The Law Office of Brendan Burns was established in 2014, a decade after Brendan began practicing law. He saw a need to create his own firm so that he could provide the level of client satisfaction that he wanted by cultivating an environment where his clients feel understood, supported and comfortable with their attorney.
Brendan began his legal career in the US Army, and has since worked in numerous legal capacities including civil defense, criminal defense, and even served as a Councilman for the town of Oro Valley. All of these experiences have contributed to making Brendan a well-rounded and experienced attorney, dedicated to serving Tucson and beyond.

The team at Brendan Burn’s office is available to answer questions and help keep the stress to a minimum.
Brendan M. Burns practices in the areas of family law, criminal law, plaintiff's personal injury, commercial litigation, and estate planing. Prior to starting his own firm, Mr. Burns worked as a civil defense attorney at the law firm of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith. Because of this background, Mr. Burns has a unique understanding and enhanced credibility with defense lawyers, insurers and defendants.
As a criminal defense attorney, he tried numerous high-profile cases that generated national and international media attention including premeditated murder, rape and aggravated assault. Mr. Burns began his criminal law career as a prosecutor.
Mr. Burns began his legal career as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. During his time with the Army, Brendan served as Chief Legal Counsel for General Leonard Wood Community Hospital. His duties included defending the hospital and medical providers against all medical malpractice claims as well as managing the hospital’s risk management programs. Mr. Burns also served as the Chief of Claims responsible for defending the Army against tort actions filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
Mr. Burns is a former Councilman for the Town of Oro Valley. His position as an elected official provides him a unique understanding of how public bodies function and arrive at decisions. Mr. Burns leverages this understanding to represent clients in claims involving public bodies to land use issues including municipal law, local government affairs, rezoning, general plan amendments, development agreements, annexations, and infrastructure and impact fees.

Kateri E. Bitzel, PP, PLS
Ms. Jordan began her career in the legal field as a file clerk/receptionist in 1984. She graduated from the Tucson Business of College in 1985, with a Certification in Computer Programming, specializing in BASIC, COBOL and RPG IV. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1986; while there, she worked as a word processor for the Department of Parole and Probation, assigned to the Post-Conviction, Pre-Sentencing Unit, typing Pre-Sentence Investigative Reports and recommendations for judges to use in sentencing a defendant once he or she had been convicted of an offense and was awaiting sentencing). She later advanced to the Logging Unit, responsible for preparing court packets for sentencing dates, and later, entering dispositions into the Nevada State databanks.
She returned to Tucson in 2000, working for the Pima County Superior Court in the Pre-Trial Services Unit, preparing statistics on accused offenders, recidivism rates of accused offenders and types of crimes committed, preparing reports for the department supervisor from those statistics. In 2003, she began working for a sole practitioner, who primarily practiced Family Law. While there, she designed his website and streamlined office procedures, increasing his productivity with such procedures.
She became a member of NALS…the association for legal professionals in 2005, attaining her first certification, Professional Legal Secretary (“PLS”) in 2006. She attained her second certification, Professional Paralegal (“PP”) in 2008.
Since she became a member of NALS, she has held many positions on the National, State and Local Boards. From 2008 through 2017, she was the Certification Study Group chair, teaching aspiring and seasoned paralegals seeking to advance their positions, culminating each session with her students sitting for their chosen certification exam. In October, 2017, she became a member of the National Certification Board, which oversees the editing of study materials and the design of the certification exams.
She received the 2015 NALS of Tucson & So. AZ Award of Excellence.
In 2012, she returned to school in the Health Information Technology program at Pima Community College, recognizing the very real emerging medico-legal field. She graduated with high honors as a member of Phi Theta Kappa on May 19, 2016. She also began seasonal work for H & R Block Business Services, later Block Advisors, and became a Certified Tax Preparer, in 2013.
Brittany serves as the Law Clerk for the Law Office of Brendan Burns and is readily available to help clients with questions and scheduling. Brittany attended Ohio State University, where she studied International Business. She is a wonderful addition to the Brendan Burns’ team and enjoys spending time with her dogs in her spare time.
